The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday November 9,
1995 at 1:30 P.M. in Brewster B-104.
Minutes of October 12, 1995 approved as distributed.
Ted Gartman, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, presented
School of Social Work curriculum revisions. Motion to approve, as
amended, by Janis Shea, seconded by B. Joyner. Motion passed.
Social Work will submit a separate request to Curriculum
Committee related to deletion of SOCI 5930.
Carson Bays, Chair, Department of Economics, presented proposed
changes in undergraduate economics. Add MATH 2283 as cognate for
BA and BS tracks. Delete ECON 2250 as a required Economics
course. Bank ECON 2250. Add a new "Applied Economics" option to
the BS Track and designate the existing BS as the "Quantitative"
option. Motion to approve revisions by Bill Grossnickle, seconded
by E. Powers. Motion passed.
Carl Twarog, Craig Malmrose, and Danny Stillion, School of Art,
presented changes in Communication Art curriculum, particularly
Environmental Design. Motion to postpone request until December
meeting by Bob Joyner. Motion passed.
Carol Techman presented revision of HPRO 2000 to REHB 2000;
Addition of REHB 4501, 4502, & 4503 Independent Study, for 1,2 &
3 s.h. respectively. Motion to approve as amended by Evelyn
Powers, seconded by Janis Shea. Motion passed. HPRO will forward
a request to delete HPRO 2000 at the end of spring semester 1996.
Jim O. Smith presented a request from the Department of Physics
to unbank PHYS 5716. Motion to approve seconded by Bill
Grossnickle. Motion passed.
William Holley, School of Art, requested the addition of a 3 s.h.
Art Elective to the BFA Art Education degree program. Motion to
approve by Bob Joyner, seconded by Bill Grossnickle. Motion
passed.
HPRO 5015 postponed until the December meeting.
COAD 1000 postponed until the December meeting.
THEA 4070 postponed until the December meeting.
ENGL 5110, 4040, 4300, 4999 postponed until the December meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 3:45 P.M. The next meeting is scheduled for
