University Curriculum Committee
The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday,
November 13, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-104.
The minutes and catalog copy of September 25 were
corrected; 1) paragraph of courses to be banked: All
courses listed after Mgmt 4992 (ELEM 4301, 4305, 4340,
5251, 5350, 5351, 5352, 5353, 5354, 5355, 5356, 5357 &
5367; HEED 4310, 5006; ITED 4190, 4192; TECH 1001,
1002, 1003, 4100) should have been deletions from the
catalog. Smith motioned to approve as amended. Graziani
seconded. Motion passed.
Zincone (Business) presented curriculum and catalog
revisions: revise requirements for non-business students to
take 3000 level Business course; remove Acct 2521 as a
prerequisite for DSCI 3063; revise catalog to read 60 hours
outside of school & revise international concentration to 27
hours. Joyner motioned for approval. Knickerbocker
seconded. The motion passed
Shearin (Theatre) presented curriculum and catalog
revisions; revise THEA 2010, 2035, 3015; change
prerequisites in THEA 2010; renumber THEA 1002; bank
THEA 3027, 4027, 4028, 4032; include THEA 3015 to
concentration; revise BS theatre Arts-drop CSDI 2100 as
cognate; revise BS Theatre Arts for the Preparation of
Teachers core (hours, require both THEA 2001 and 4065).
Joyner motioned for approval. Knickerbocker seconded. The
motion passed
Biology new course proposal BIO 1030, tabled.
Kester/Benz/Caprio (BS Communication) presented revisions
in the B.S. in Communications. Allen/Krenar/Green (BA
Communication) had some concerns, including the deletion of
the word Electronic from the BS program. All changes
applying to the word Electronic were dropped from the
revisions. Editorial changes; remove EMST 2030 from core;
include EMST 3530 in core; change prerequisites, 2030,
2310, 2510, 2610, 3010, 3591-3592-3593, 4260, 4510, 4520,
4530, 4810, 4981-82-83. renumber 2520, 4010, to 3510,
3530: Media Performance-EMST 3310 sub for 2310, remove
EMST 2210. Insert EMST 2510-allow EMST 2310 or 3310:
under News concentration, remove 2520, insert; revise title to
LIBS 1000..
Huener motioned for approval. Graziani seconded. The
motion passed
Discussed Dean Sparrow's proposal for a Multidisciplinary
to be forwarded to the Chancellor. Motioned for approval,
seconded. The motion passed
