The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday, December 7,
1995, at 1:30 P.M. in Brewster B-104.
The minutes of November 9, 1995, were approved as amended.
Donald Palumbo (English) presented a request to renumber ENGL
5110 to 4030 and add ENGL 4040, 4300, and 4999. Shea moved
approval of the renumbering and addition of ENGL 4040 and 4300.
Ayers seconded. The motion passed. Shea moved to return ENGL 4999
to the English Department with a recommendation of either
requiring the course of all majors or dropping the course and
enforcing current degree requirements. It must be also stipulated
that the portfolio be of acceptable quality. Harris seconded. The
motion passed.
Carl Twarog, Craig Malmrose and Danny Stillion (Art) presented a
request to revise ART 3070, 3416, 3426, 3440, 3442, 441 1, and
4460; and the addition of ART 4070. Shea moved approval of the
proposals contingent upon submission to the chair of completed
revised proposals prior to 9 January 1996. Neal seconded. The
motion passed.
Bruce Albright (Physical Therapy) proposed the addition of HPRO
5015. Graziani moved approval as amended. Harris seconded. The
motion passed.
John Shearin (Theater Arts) proposed addition of THEA 4070.
Powers moved approval. Harris seconded. The motion passed.
Michael Carrafiello (History) proposed the inclusion of LATN
1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 in the Religious Studies Minor. Harris
moved approval. Graziani seconded. The motion passed.
Michael Carrafiello (History) proposed the addition of HIST 5555.
Harris moved approval.
Powers seconded. The motion passed
Dale Hutchinson (Anthropology) proposed the deletion of ANTH 4500
and the addition of ANTH 4501, 4502, 4503. Harris moved approval
as amended. Powers seconded. The motion passed.
The items from the Geography Department were postponed until a
representative could be present.
The meeting adjourned at 3:40. The next scheduled meeting is on
Thursday, January 11, 1996 at 1:30 P.M.
