The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday January 25,
1996 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-104.
Minutes of the January 11, 1996, meeting were approved as
distributed.
Michael Duffy (Art) proposed changes for Art History courses for
non Art Majors; editorial changes in catalog pages 175, 176, 182;
revise description of Art 4940; renumber Art 5980 to 4990; new
course Art 2905; double list Art 1906, 1907, 4990; under Art
History and Art History for non-majors section; general education
credit for Art 2905 & 4990. Graziani moved approval as amended.
Harris seconded. The motion passed.
Katie Speth & Sue Graner (Health and Human Performance) presented
new course HLTH 3280/1; revise HLTH 3250; increase hours for HLTH
3220/1. Grossnickle moved approval contingent on receipt of
appropriate signatures. Neal seconded. The motion passed. The
committee raised concerns about add-on courses in general
Teacher Education Parmalee Hawke (Education) presented changes in
Teacher Education. Common changes in catalog, general education
and increase in hours of practicum and introduction of seminar
for all the following programs: Elementary Education, Birth
through Kindergarten, Middle Grades Education, Secondary
Education and Special Subject Areas (English, Mathematics,
Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health, Music, Art,
Dance, Theatre Arts), Exceptional Children, Business Vocational
Technical Education. Joyner moved approval. Neal seconded. The
motion passed.
Elizabeth Foster (Education) proposed changes in Middle Grades
Education; new course MIDG 3022, 4323, 4324; revise MIDG 3001,
3010, 4001, 4010. Joyner moved approval as amended. Powell
seconded. The motion passed. New middle grade math courses; MATH
1067, 1077, 2282, 3239; revise MATH 3237. Neal moved approval.
Joyner seconded. The motion passed. The School will return to
Committee 2/8/96 with suggested prerequisite changes.
Tom Buttery (Education) proposed changes in Elementary Education:
new courses ELEM 3235, 3236, 4324, 4325, 4526, READ 3210, 3211.
Powell moved approval. Joyner seconded. The motion passed.
Ivan Wallace & Randy Joyner (Education) proposed changes in
Business Vocational and Technical Education: prefix changes for
BVTE 4323 & 4324; new course BVTE 4390. Neal moved approval as a
mended. Powell seconded. The motion passed.
Rose Sinicrope (MATH) presented revision in B.S. in Mathematics
Education: new courses MATH 2775, 2935, 3004, 3005,3006, 4001,
4324, & 4325. Joyner moved approval as amended. Harris seconded.
The motion passed.
Philip Phillips (Art) presented changes in Art: new course ART
2870. Postponed until next meeting for lack of syllabus.
