UNIVERSITY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 23, 1995
The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday, February 23,
1995 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B- 104.
The Minutes of February 9, 1995 were approved. Powers moved
approval.
Dr. Thomas Powell, Director of Admissions, presented information
to the committee regarding a potential community college
articulation agreement which would allow students who have earned
an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from SACS
accredited institutions to receive all general education credits
upon their admission to East Carolina University. A lengthy
discussion with Dr. Powell followed. The committee chair
appointed a subcommittee of Bill Grossnickle, Brian Harris,
Robert Joyner, and Hugh Wease to draft a memorandum to be
presented to the Faculty Senate expressing the committee's
concerns with the proposed articulation agreement. The draft will
be reviewed at the March 23 committee meeting.
The committee discussed the first draft of a report regarding
revisions to the course proposal form prepared by Brian Harris,
Evelyn Powers, and Hugh Wease. Additions and editorial revisions
were made to the document. The committee requested that a
complete draft of the course proposal form with revisions be
prepared and presented at the March 23 committee meeting.
Discussion of the second draft of a procedures report prepared by
Jannis Shea, James O. Smith, and Sharon Bland which outlines
guidelines for submission of materials to the University
Curriculum Committee was postponed until the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 3:20 p.m. The next regularly scheduled
meeting will be March 23. 1995 at 1:30 p.m. in Brewster B-104.
REMINDER: The deadline for submission of materials to be
considered for inclusion in the 1995 Catalog Supplement is March
15, 1995 for inclusion on the March 23 meeting agenda.
