Minutes of April 11, 1996
The University Curriculum Committee met on Thursday April 11,
1996 at 1:30 P.M. in Brewster B-104.
Minutes of the March 28 meetings were approved as distributed.
Carol Techman (Allied Health) presented new course proposals REHB
5111, 5121, and 5151. Joyner moved approval. Powers seconded.
Motion failed. Discussion: ECU does not have an established
policy for distance learning as a receiving site. The Chair will
take this concern to the Chair of the Faculty.
Jerry Lotterhaus (Allied Health) presented changes for Drug and
Alcohol Studies Minor. Drop CDFR as required course; Add REHB
4000 as a required course; Add PSYC 4375, HLTH 5345, SOCI 3220,
CSDI 2020, and REHB 5000 as additional electives. Neal moved
approval. Joyner seconded. Motion passed.
Other Committee Business
Concern was expressed about student advisement. The Committee
reiterated the importance that advising be consistent with what
is approved by the Curriculum Committee, as well as the published
Catalogue.
General Administration is forming eleven committees to assist in
implementation of the Proposed Plan to Further Simplify Transfer
of Credit Between Institutions. Nominations are being sought for
General Education Discipline Committees. Names are to be
submitted to Caroline Ayers by 4/15/96.
The Curriculum Committee 1995-96 Annual Report was reviewed,
amended, and approved by consensus.
