3. Subcommittees established during the year

Faculty Manual: multiple subcommittees
were formed to review the sections of the Faculty Manual that the FWC was charged
to review. Reports for some sections have been given to the Faculty Senate;
some sections are going to be carried over to the next academic year as more
work was necessary as determined by either the Faculty Senate or the FWC.
4. Accomplishments during the year,
especially as addressed through committee goals. Please include recommendations made to any
University agency other than the Faculty Senate that will be noted under
#5.

Faculty Serious
Illness and Disability Leave Policy. The revised drafts of this policy were
reviewed by the committee many times and 3 faculty open forums were held on
this issue (Faculty Welfare Committee members were integrally involved in these
forums). As a result of the discussions multiple recommendations were submitted
to EPA Personnel Policy Committee, Academic Council, and Faculty Senate.

7. Evaluation of the committee (include
anything that hindered or assisted the
committee's

A. Charge: main charges were 1. to review
sections of the Faculty Manual; 2 to work with Academic Council and EPA
Personnel Policy committee regarding revisions to the Serious Illness and Disability
Leave for Faculty Policy.
B. Personnel: It has been very helpful to
have a representative from the Office of the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor;
continuing this representation would be helpful for future committee members.
C. Attendance: Excellent
D. Responsibilities: Shared; given the
important charge of reviewing sections of the Faculty Manual, having everyone
working in small groups and then reporting to the larger group was very
effective.
E. Activities: varied
