The meeting was called to order at 2:05 P.M.

Minutes

The minutes from the Sept. 20^th and Oct. 11^th meetings were approved as submitted.

Old Business

Goals of the Liberal Arts Foundations Curriculum

Discussion continued on comments received both during and after the hearings held in September. Committee members also discussed some key points from a September 2003 Pope Center document “General Education Requirements at North Carolina’s Public Universities: What Do Students Get in the Core Curriculum?” by George. C. Leef.

A motion to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate was made and seconded. Discussion points included amending the math competencies and consistent use of the word “basic” as a modifier in the Sciences and Social Sciences sections. A motion to table the motion of sending the goals document forward was made and passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 P.M.
