Agenda Item: Approval of Minutes from November 18, 2002
Action Taken: Rigsby/Purificacion motion Passed
Agenda Item: General Education, Humanities designation for Classics courses
Action Taken: Purificacion/Riggs motion to pass - Passed, to be ratified at next called or scheduled meeting.
Agenda Item: General Education for courses transferred from Arts and Sciences to School of Education.
Discussion: Discussion of how general education courses should be considered by Academic Standards. This includes courses that have changed prefix through transfer to another school or department.
Part of Review of General Education should include recommendation that general education courses come through Academic Standards.
There was a discussion of how to identify general education, rather by prefix, or courses by course.
Purificacion/Riggs moved to table the discussion till next meeting.
Agenda Item: General Education Progress Report for the Faculty Senate in January, 2003.
Discussion: Present basic philosophy and goals for General Education, or leave details till later.
How to gain more input was discussed. Decided to have forums and also send emails to the faculty.
House/Purificacion made a motion to present the philosophy as it is written as the progress report to the Faculty Senate in January. Passed
Agenda Item: Column in TEC to be written by Katie Slagel.
Action Taken: John Tilley will discuss this with Katie in more detail.

Ratify Classics courses as General Education courses.
