Item: General Education for courses
transferred from Arts and Sciences to School of Education.
Discussion: Discussion of how general education courses
should be considered by Academic Standards.
This includes courses that have changed prefix through transfer to
another school or department.
Part of Review
of General Education should include recommendation that general education
courses come through Academic Standards.
There was a
discussion of how to identify general education, rather by prefix, or courses
by course.
Action Taken:
Purificacion/Riggs
moved to table the discussion till next meeting.

General Education Progress Report for the Faculty Senate in January, 2003.
Discussion:
Present basic philosophy and goals for General Education, or leave details till
later.
How to gain more
input was discussed. Decided to have
forums and also send emails to the faculty.
Action Taken:
House/Purificacion
made a motion to present the philosophy as it is written as the progress report
to the Faculty Senate in January.
