Goals of the Liberal Arts Foundations Curriculum

At the last meeting, a motion was made to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate. During discussion, suggestions for amending the document were made. Subsequently, a motion was passed to table the motion to pass the document to Faculty Senate. During this meeting, committee members reviewed the amended document, and continued discussion. Points included clarification of basic social sciences, idea of what is a well-rounded education balanced against what is a good course to take, and consistency of wording regarding the phrase “students will take”.

A motion was made and passed to un-table the motion to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate with the stipulation that the committee can still make editorial changes up until the document goes to the Agenda Committee. The original motion to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate was passed.
