Old Business

Goals of the Liberal Arts Foundations Curriculum

At the last meeting, a motion was made to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate. During discussion, suggestions for amending the document were made. Subsequently, a motion was passed to table the motion to pass the document to Faculty Senate. During this meeting, committee members reviewed the amended document, and continued discussion. Points included clarification of basic social sciences, idea of what is a well-rounded education balanced against what is a good course to take, and consistency of wording regarding the phrase “students will take”.

A motion was made and passed to un-table the motion to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate with the stipulation that the committee can still make editorial changes up until the document goes to the Agenda Committee. The original motion to send the Goals document to Faculty Senate was passed.

New Business

Peer Review Document

Guests Dot Clayton and Chris Weaver were present to speak to the request that the Academic Standards Committee meet to review the Peer Review Document. Currently, the document is slated to be looked at by the Career and Continuing Education Committee of Faculty Senate and Clayton and Weaver want ASC to look at it as well. Points for clarification on the draft left with committee members may be sent to Chris Weaver in advance of the meeting where the Peer Review Instrument will be discussed by ASC. The meeting where the Peer Review Document will be discussed has not been set.
