Agenda item: Approval of minutes of the February 16 meeting.

Action taken: The committee approved the minutes.

Agenda item: Michael Poteat of Institutional Planning and Research discussed the issues involved in changing SOIS to a web-based system.

Action taken: The following proposal was approved by the committee and was forwarded to the Faculty Senate for approval:

IPRE should be permitted to perform a study of the web based student survey during all summer session courses this year. The study should compare the web-based survey with the traditional SOIS forms by surveying the same class both ways. Partcipation in the study should be on a voluntary basis. Individual faculty results should not be made available to anybody other than the faculty member.

Agenda item: Michael Poteat also brought up a request from a department Chair to make SOIS surveys of certain summer courses mandatory.

Action taken: After some discussion the committee decided that no action by the committee was warranted on this issue at this time.

Agenda item: Continuing discussion of the changes to the GE program continued.

All suggestions/corrections to the document should be sent to George Bailey by Friday, April 2. The committee will try to approve the final version (by email) in time to have it on the agenda for the April Faculty Senate meeting.
