Agenda Item: 1 – Approval of 3/17/03 minutes

Action Taken: Approved

Agenda Item 2 – Dr. Swart input regarding the general education program

Discussion: Dr. Swart asked for questions from the committee. He reiterated his hopes for the general education program, including breath and depth in general education; clusters around a theme at the upper level; writing intensive; multidisciplinary; and perhaps a precursor to a minor.

Dr. Swart spoke of the diversity component, and the creation of a “virtual:” community through the use of technology. This could develop into life-long learning.

Agenda Item: 3 – Discussion of Foundations Curriculum

Discussion: A lively discussion ensued.

Agenda Item 7 – Change of meeting time

Action Taken: Meeting time for 4/21/03 was changed to 2:00 by acclamation
