Agenda Item: 1 – Approval of August 20, 2001 minutes

Action Taken: Approved

Agenda Item: 2 – Review of Writing Across the Curriculum Committee and Honors Program Committee Annual Reports

Action Taken:

The committee reviewed the annual reports of the Writing Across the Curriculum Committee and Honors Program Committee.

Bob Christian made a motion seconded by Linda Godbold to commend Professor Michael Bassman of the Honors Program and Professor Patrick Bizzaro of the University Writing Program for tier work.

Agenda Item: 3 – Discuss Curriculum development and assessment

Discussion:

Dr. Dale Knickerbocker, chair of the University Curriculum Committee joined in the discussion.

Action Taken:

• Dr. Knickerbocker will link document # 96-6, General Education Course Goals, Objectives, and Courses meeting the Requirements to the University Curriculum Committee Web pages.
• Dr. Knickerbocker will take back to the University Curriculum Committee the proposal that if there is a question about a new general education course, the Academic Standards Committee will evaluate the class proposal. A check box and a place to write a justification must be completed. The precise wording of this for the course submission form will be sent to the Academic Standards Committee for our approval.

Agenda Item 4 – Other Committee Business

Dorothy Mueller asked that someone from the Academic Standards Committee served on the Council of Undergraduate Advising.

Action Taken:

Michelle Sharp volunteered to serve on this committee. John Tilley will notify Dorothy Mueller.
