The Committee on Committees and Faculty Senate encourage you, as members of the East Carolina University faculty, to participate in the shared faculty governance of this University by agreeing to serve as a member of a University committee. The institutional mission continues to be teaching, research/creative activity and service (external and internal).  Demonstrated service within our campus community is an important component of the evaluation of faculty members.  The issues addressed by these committees are vital to the mission of East Carolina University.

The Committee on Committees has been charged to seek faculty volunteers to serve on the various academic, appellate, administrative, Board of Trustees, and student union committees.  Faculty members currently serving on an University committee are to be commended for their dedication to University service.  If your membership term is expiring or if you are not currently on an University committee, please review the following information and consider service on one of the many committees.  The deadline for submission of a committee volunteer preference form is February 18, 2008.

Faculty Eligibility Requirements:

  • Not presently on a committee or serving an expiring 2008 committee term.
  • Holding academic rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor. (This excludes fixed term faculty and those faculty on phased retirement.)
  • Holding no administrative titles (for service on appellate committees).

(An administrative title refers to appointment as department chair in a college/school, unit administrator, dean, assistant or associate dean, vice chancellor, assistant or associate vice chancellor, chancellor, assistant or associate chancellor).

Faculty members have two ways to note their preference for service on the various standing University committees.

At One Stop https://onestop4.ecu.edu/onestop/ a faculty member signs in using his or her user name and password and after submitting that information, he or she clicks on “Faculty Committee Volunteer Form” under the Employee Section and completes the committee volunteer preference form.  This information is then submitted directly to the Committee on Committees via the Faculty Senate office.

OR

A faculty member may complete the volunteer preference form noted below and forward it via email to the Faculty Senate office at facultysenate@ecu.edu.
