The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm.
Regular members Tom Caron (Education), Michele Eble (English), Puri Martinez (Foreign Languages), Mike Tahaney (Theartre and Dance) and Toby Allen (Chemistry) were present.
Ex-officio members Mark Taggart (Chair of the Faculty, Music) and Catherine Rigsby (Past Chair of the Faculty, Geology) were present.
Lori Lee was also present.
ACTIONS TAKEN:
1. The Committee elected officers for 2007-2008 by voice vote. Caron was elected Chair, Eble was elected Vice Chair, and Allen was elected Secretary.
2. The charge to the Committee was discussed.
3. The Committee considered individuals for vacancies on the ’07-’08 Hearing Appellate Committee. The proposal was made to move Linda Mooney (Sociology) from an alternate position to regular membership (2009 term). In addition, Caron is to approach Profs. Cathy Hall (Psychology) and Dawn Clark (Theatre and Dance) for the two- and one-year alternate positions, respectively.
4. The EPPC charge was reviewed. At issue is the policy whereby the EPPC reports directly to the Chancellor; this would appear to allow new programs to be approved without input from the Faculty Senate. The Committee recommended that the Chairs and Past Chairs of the EPPC and UCC meet with the Committee on Committees to bring the EPPC’s reporting structure into line with University norms.
