Minutes of the September 18, 2009 meeting were approved as presented.

IV.   Faculty Senate Update

Glascoff reported that the committee’s September 18 actions were not presented to Faculty Senate at its last meeting, as a quorum was lost before the agenda item was reached.  The committee is still waiting for the requested letter of support from the School of Communication pertaining to the Film Studies interdisciplinary minor.

V.            ECU Faculty Manual, Part V. Academic Information, Section III

Discussion was held concerning having an additional meeting to review this portion of the ECU Faculty Manual, but the decision was made to include the review as an agenda item at the November 13 meeting.  Walker will clarify with the Chancellor that his concern is with the omission of the Academic Council from the review process for undergraduate and graduate program changes, rather than curriculum changes.  Other items for review include the language concerning certificates of advanced study, which have been eliminated by General Administration, and financial aid considerations associated with other certificate programs.

VI.          EPPC submissions

Lee will revise the EPPC Web site to clarify that submissions for the EPPC agenda should be sent to the Chair.  She will set up a SharePoint site for the committee.

VII.         Graduate certificate in Physical Education Clinical Supervision

James Decker and Boni Boswell presented a request from the College of Health and Human Performance for a new graduate certificate in Physical Education Clinical Supervision.  Motion passed to approve the request.

VIII.                   Sport and Exercise Psychology Concentration

Tina Karvinen and James Becker presented a request from the College of Health and Human Performance for a new Sport and Exercise Psychology concentration in the MS in Exercise and Sport Science.  Motion passed to approve the request.

IX.   MS in Security Studies

Bob Thompson and Alethia Cook presented a request from the Department of Political Science for a new Master of Science in Security Studies.  The program builds on the current graduate certificate in Security Studies and will continue to be interdisciplinary, with participation from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health and Human Performance, College of Human Ecology, and College of Technology and Computer Science. Motion passed to approve the request.
