1) Motion to approve minutes with edited changes was seconded
and approved.
2) Jeff provided a report from Laupus
- Give back 7% has been
required, yet to determine how it will affect
- Library plans to cut
back on book purchases
- No action taken
3) Review of meeting with the space planning committee
- Melanie, Tom and
Stephen attended space planning committee
- Questions arose on
book space needs
- Goal of having a 1.2
million volume automated storage and retrieval system
- 300,000-500,000
volumes in the library composed with special collections
- Tom stated that it
will be a challenge to convince faculty that this is not a comparable library
to Chapel Hill, Michigan, etc
- No action taken
4) Larry reported on the current state of the space planning
project
- Getting lot of
support for plan
- The library plans on
completing the first phase, but the foundation down 30% and is underwater
- Still looking to see
which changes can be incorporated
- Announced that 3/27
is Founders day and that the following activities are planned – 5:00 at the
library will be a reception; 7:00 will have oral history presentation from 30
ECU first-generation grads
- No action taken

Jan provided an update on LibQUAL survey
- 885 responses since
Feb 9
- Goal is to receive
1,000 responses
- No action taken
