ACTIONS OF MEETING:

Agenda Item: Due date for suspension appeals (fall/spring semesters)

Discussion: Moving the date one week out would allow all grades to be recorded and students would have a better understanding of the need to appeal if necessary.

Action Taken: Dr. Layman moves to change the due dates of suspension appeals, seconded by Chris Grymes. Approved.

Agenda Item: Retention Period clarified.

Discussion: Dr. Brown reviewed the retention periods as far as attempted hours/transfer hours and required GPA.

Action Taken: No action required.

Agenda Item: Readmission appeals

31 appeals were presented.

Action Taken: 28 appeals were denied. 3 appeals were approved.

Agenda Item: Retroactive Drops (14 presented)

Discussion:

One was tabled in order for student to present a letter stating why illness affected one class only.

One was sent to the Office of Equity. Student needs to file a complaint with this office instead of appealing to SAAC.

Action Taken: 2 – granted, 10 – denied, 1 – tabled, 1-other

Agenda Item: Retroactive Withdrawal (27 presented)

Discussion: One student presented two withdrawals in same appeal. One appeal was approved for fall 2006 and one appeal was denied for spring 2006. These numbers are noted in parenthesis below.

Action Taken: 15 – granted, 11 - denied

Action Taken: 2 denied

1 appeal was for an additional grade replacement. Denied.

1 appeal was for an exception to the forgiveness policy. Denied.
