Terry Holland:
- Discussed
his letter to fans about being realistic, optimistic, enthusiastic, and
passionate.
- Discussed
difficulty in traveling to away games, especially softball and baseball.
- Olympic
Sports’ facility is moving along, will take approximate three years to
complete.
- Football
stadium expansion is still on “go.”
Samantha Lichtner:
- SACS
representative: ECU student athletes are attempting to provide 5000 hours
of community service this year.
Gary Overton:
- Need
to develop a minority opportunity plan for athletics. The UAC needs to set
up a sub-committee to develop and review the plan (similar to how and what
was done with the gender equity plan). Several faculty and staff
volunteered, and will meet following the next UAC meeting.
General Discussion:
- Discussion
of two articles : 1) professor from Michigan who
teaches all students, and 2) articles about the realities of what happens
to players drafted into the NBA.
David Dosser:
- Supplied
copies of his report to the Faculty Senate and discussed supports provided
by Academic Support and overall performance by various teams.
Meeting adjourned at
5:20 pm.
The Academic Integrity Subcommittee then met in closed
session to receive Nita Boyce’s report of athlete’s academic performance for
the Fall 2008 semester.
