1.         Attendance:

a.   Garris Conner, Bill Grossnickle, Bryna Coonin, Mark McCarthy, Christine Bonett, Cassie Crowler, Charles Coddington, Andrew Morehead, Susan McCammon, Charles Hodson,

c.   Guests: Drs. Decker, McGhee, and Lawrence

 

2.         Call to order: Meeting was called to order at 3:35 in Rawl 105

3.         Approval of  September 2006 Minutes: Andrew Morehead moved, and Bryna Coonin seconded the approval of the minutes. Passed unanimously.

 

4.         Review of Code for the College of Health and Human Performance.

Suggested editorial changes

Line 132—add “s” to Dean

Line 497—add hyphen between university and level

Line 893—add “,” to read “Under special circumstances, such as summer searches,” 

 

Moved by Charles Hodson and seconded by Charles Coddington that the unit code of the College of Health and Human Performance be approved. Passed unanimously.

 

Dr. Conner directed Dr. Decker and McGhee to prepare two clean copies and one electronic copy for submission to the Faculty Senate office and clarified that the committee suggestions were editorial, not substantive.

 

 

5.         Review of the code of the Department of Geological Sciences:

 

             Overall suggestion: Remove references to sections of the ECU Faculty Manual, include the appropriate Appendix.

 

p. 2, line 14  changes “general” to “foundation”.

p. 3 & 4, under Duties of Chairperson, capitalize the first word of each numerical item.

p. 5 & 6, under Responsibilities for Director of Graduate Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies, capitalize the first word of each numerical item.

p. 5, line 2 & 9 suggest adding “at last meeting of academic year for those years when a term is completed” to clarify when election is held

p. 5, check to see if the Director of Graduate Studies must also serve as part of the Graduate Administrative Board, not just on Graduate Assembly

p. 6, line 20 add when committee members are elected

p. 7, lines 3 & 12 clarify that faculty vote on the recommendations presented

p. 10, line 22 change “General” to “Foundations”

 

Moved by Bill Grossnickle and seconded by Susan McCammon that the unit code of the Department of Geological Sciences be approved. Passed unanimously.
