University Environment Committee Minutes

Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in Rawl Building, 3:30 pm

 

Presiding: Jill Twark

 

1. Due to lack of quorum, the minutes of the previous meeting were not reviewed for approval.

 

2. Hunt McKinnon discussed the Environmental Sustainability report for UNC-Tomorrow.

            -ECU is unlikely to have a sustainability coordinator for at least a year.

            -Chair Twark asked Hunt McKinnon to invite Ted Morris to the January committee

            meeting.

            -Hunt McKinnon will put together a report on what is going on relative to UNC-

            Tomorrow for the committee

            -Hunt McKinnon was asked by Chair Twark to ask at Faculty Senate about the

            replacement of  The Croatan by a Chili’s restaurant, to find out how this was

            decided.

            -We also need to ask Bill Koch about progress on the Master Plan.

3. Announcements

            - The open meeting to discuss the future of the EC Scholars program will be in

             MSC 221 from 5 to 6:30 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 3.

            -The committee resolutions on campus Greenspace and Heritage Trees passed the

            Faculty Senate

            -The Committee on Committees passed the Environment Committee’s request for

            changes in the committee charge, with only minor revisions. This now goes

            to the Faculty Senate for ratification.

            -On Dec. 12 there will be a groundbreaking for the new Tar River Greenway.  Please

            attend if you can, since Greenville needs to know the citizens support green space.
