COMMITTEE: Admissions and Recruitment MEETING DATE: 22 September 1995 PRESIDING: Cope ACTIONS OF MEETING Description of Action: Approval of the minutes of 11 September 1995 Description of Action: Cope reported that the Faculty Senate approved the catalogue revisions to the Freshman (Freshperson) Admissions Policy. Description of Action: Discussion of the Non-traditional student admissions policy continued. The committee examined a memo sent by Tom Powell clarifying alternatives available to these students. Issues considered by committee included a) jeopardy to financial aid eligibility, b) MAR deficiencies and the General Administration policy of not admitting students with any MAR deficiency, c) jeopardy to the quality of student applicants, d) general impact on the number of admissions applications. Committee questioned its role in this matter. Is the policy in place? Are we asked to endorse or enforce? Assigned additional duties to: Committee moved to invite Tom Powell and Bob Denny to discuss the ramifications of this policy. Completion date/Follow-up action: The next meeting. Description of Action: Due to the lengthy discussion of the Non- traditional student policy, all other business was tabled. Meeting adjourned at 2:52 p.m.
