PERSON PRESIDING: Chris Ulffers ACTIONS OF MEETING: Description of action: DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Rita reported that an orientation meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 1995 from 12:00- 2:00 for all instructors who will be teaching WI courses in the spring. She plans to have written and videotaped examples of writing intensive assignments available and hopes that the meeting will provide an opportunity for WI faculty to share ideas. Rita plans to send a survey to WI instructors and asked for input from committee members regarding the questions to be used on the survey. After collecting data this semester she plans to meet with WI instructors and their chairs in January-February to discuss the survey results and other issues relevant to WI courses. Completion date/ Follow-up action required: None Description of action: The Committee moved to request that all WI instructors receive letters from the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs thanking them for their support of the WAC program. Completion date/ Follow-up action required: Carmine agreed to communicate this motion to the Vice-Chancellor. Descriptions of action: David Sanders, Director of the Honors Program was present to discuss with the Committee the request from the Honors Program Committee that all Honors Seminars be approved as writing intensive. The Committee voted to approve the guidelines used for Honors course proposals and to request that the call for course proposals include a copy of the WAC booklet. Completion date/ Follow-up action required: Dr. Sanders agreed to these requests. Description of action: The Committee approved the following courses as WI intensive: POLS 3203, EMST 2110, EMST 2510, EMST 4950, PADP 3300, PADP 3400. Completion/ Follow-up action required: EMST 4530 was tabled until Rita can clarify the number of pages required for course assignments.
