ACTIONS OF MEETING:
 
Description of Action: The minutes of 22 February 1996 were
edited and approved.
 
Description of Action: Dr. Karen Krupa was present to discuss the
course proposal for NURS 3900.
 
Description of Action: The Committee approved the following
courses as WI: NURS 3900 and COMM 3030.
 
Description of Action: DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Rita announced the
Third National Writing Across the Curriculum Conference and
distributed flyers. The proposals are due May 15, 1996 and
previous abstracts can be viewed in the WAC office, Ragsdale 118.
Rita also discussed WAC requirements for transfer students. She
presented guidelines for evaluating Wl credit and showed us two
reports for University of Washington. (Courses transferred as
ENGL 1100 and ENGL 1200 are granted WI credit.) With respect to
the guidelines it was agreed that a course designated WI on the
student's transcript will be accepted as WI at East Carolina
University. For any other course which the student feels is Wl,
the student must make a formal request. This is done by filling
out a request form at the WAC Program Office which is then sent
(by the WAC Program Office) to the appropriate department at the
other institution and the returned request is reviewed by the WAC
Committee for approval of WI credit.
 
Description of Action: Next meeting date was discussed. We will
meet on 25 April 1996.
