Description of Action:
Item:  Approval of October 28, 1999.  
The motion carried and the minutes were approved.

Description of Action:
Item:  November 11, 1999 minutes and absence of secretary 
from that meeting.  R. Webb Corbett to contact R. Reaves 
and ascertain if she has tentative notes or minutes which R. 
Webb Corbett may compile for official minutes. 

Description of Action:
Item:  Congratulations extended to Rita Reaves upon her 
appointment as Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for 
Academic Program Development.

Description of Action:
Item:   Instructors Review of W-I Courses (Fall, 1999).
Committee members to review for discussion at next 
meeting.

Description of Action:
Item:  Undergraduate Courses of English Department 
Designation as WI Courses. English department 
undergraduate curriculum has recommended that present 
format be continued.  English department Chair will follow-up 
with English department faculty. Much discussion was 
generated by committee members regarding academic 
freemdom vs faculty collegiality.  WAC committee desires to 
be supportive of faculty offering WAC courses.  Discussion 
of collation of "WAC faculty rubrics" for review and sharing 
with interested faculty. 

Description of Action:
Item:  Elem 4550 - "Elementary Middle Grades Education" 
for WI designation. Motion carried to designate course as 
WI.  C. Ledford to contact R. Reaves regarding offering this 
class as WI for spring 2000 semester.

Description of Action:
Item:  Erica Lindelman, writing specialist at UNC-CH will 
address WAC committee 2/24/00 regarding existing models 
for WAC.  She will address English faculty on 2/25/00.  F. 
Farmer invited WAC committee members to 2/25/00 and will 
share information with them prior to visit.
