WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE MINUTES FOR FEBRUARY 22, 2001 Present: Patricia Clark, Patrick Bizzaro, Laura McArthur, George Bissinger First Order of Business Due to the lack of a quorum, members were unable to vote on issues, but did move to discuss several items. Due to the fact that we did not have quorum, the members present suggested that THEA 3075 be circulated via e-mail for consideration as WI. Second Order of Business Patch offered to follow up with Steve Estes regarding EXSS 4502. This proposal was tabled at a previous meeting due to lack of specific information. Patch called Steve Estes and he is working on the proposal but did not have it ready for the February meeting. Third Order of Business Members present discussed the request of SPAN 2440 to reverse WI designation for some sections. Members discussed what the procedure for this action should be. The suggestions was made that the department chair is responsible for designation of WI sections each semester which, in turn, alerts the Registrar of this information. Members also discussed the possibility of WI by "Contract" based on the "Honors by Contract" model for courses. One questions posed was, how could a student take WI if WI was not designated on the grade sheet? (for WI by contract course) Fourth Order of Business Director's Report Patrick Bizzaro delivered the Director's Report which included information regarding the following: * staff training * conference presentation * work with Professor Scott Williams and his class- peer evaluation * progress regarding services, and "visual focus" of the University Writing Center * Future workshop and consulting with Ben Raforth - Indiana University
