4. Accomplishments during
the year, especially as addressed through committee goals. Please include
recommendations made to any University agency other than the Faculty Senate

All of the committee’s accomplishments ended in reports to the Faculty
Senate, with the exception of the five-year review of Appendix D, which will be
taken up by the Faculty Senate in its September, 2004 meeting.

committee awaits approval of proposed revisions to the ECU Faculty Manual, Appendix D, including possible open forums with
the faculty.
2. Continue
examination of possible conflict of interest of University attorneys in
appellate process.
3. Consider revisions to Part XII of the ECU Faculty Manual.

Evaluation of the committee (include
anything that hindered or assisted the
committee's work
during the year).
A. Charge: The charge is clear and appropriate.
B. Personnel: The personnel were a dedicated
group of individuals who worked well in subcommittees, willingly attended extra
meetings due to the heavy workload, who were assisted by Lori Lee with guidance
by the Chair of the Faculty.
C. Attendance:
the attendance was good, especially in light of the extra called
meetings.
D. Responsibilities: The many responsibilities
were handled successfully, with appreciated assistance from resource persons
such as Henry Ferrell, David Long, and Bob Morrison.
E. Activities: The committee’s chair managed a
most difficult and complex agenda with aplomb.
the various subcommittees, like the revisions
to Parts I-IV of Appendix D of the ECU
Faculty Manual, were
crucial to the success obtained by the Faculty Governance Committee in the
fulfillment of its charge.
8. Suggestion(s) to
the Chair of the Faculty and/or Faculty Senate for improving the effectiveness
of the committee.
The guidance of the Chair of the
Faculty was extremely helpful to the operation of the committee.
9. Does the
Committee’s organizational meeting next year need to be earlier than the date
set this year?
