Mission

The First Year Center is committed to the success and retention of first year students at East Carolina University.  We facilitate their transition to the university by serving as a coordinated, comprehensive resource for students.  Through programs like Freshman Seminar, New Student Orientation, Transfer Services, and others, we help students:

• Develop a sense of belonging at the institution and create connections with peers, faculty, and staff,
• Receive quality advising that assists with academic integration,
• Maintain a sense of progression during their first year of college through majors exploration and career development, and
• Connect to other offices on campus that can provide additional support, both within Student Life and Academic Affairs.
