Meet Our Grad Student

Donetta Wylie

D Wylie

Having entered ECU planning to take the path of a career in veterinarian medicine Donetta Wylie’s plan took a slight change in course.  Born in Manassas, Virginia, Wylie came to ECU to become a cheerleader and veterinarian, but after two years of school and starting a family she took a six-year leave of absence.  During these six years Wylie focused on family, raising children and finding what it was she was passionate about.  Wylie came back to ECU in the fall of 2005 to finish what she started six years prior.  Graduating in December of 2008 with a bachelors in physical education, Wylie began her graduate studies in the spring of 2009 in physical education pedagogy.  Currently, she is a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science.  Her goal is to learn more about the teaching aspects of being an educator and the growing issues in the public school systems.  When Wylie graduates she hopes to find a teaching position in the public school system as a physical educator so she can begin on a journey she is passionate about: teaching children to live healthy lives.
