University Honors Assistantships

As part of its mission, The University Honors Program awards a limited number of University Honors Assistantships annually to eligible Honors Students who are interested in working with a faculty mentor on an undergraduate research project.  The University Honors Program hopes to continue to offer stipends each fall semester to encourage Honors students to participate in undergraduate research.  The number of stipends awarded is determined by the availability of funds.  Mr. James Ellis, Honors Academic Advisor, will send out information via e-mail to all Honors Students regarding Honors Assistantships during fall semester.

UPDATE:  (November 4, 2009)

A limited number of University Honors Assistantships are available for the 2009-2010 Academic Year.  For more information, please see the information below:

SNCURS – Statewide North Carolina Undergraduate Research Symposium

Held in the fall, this symposium brings together students and their faculty mentors from across North Carolina. Invitations are sent to all public and private four-year colleges and universities and to community colleges encouraging students in all disciplines to showcase their research and creative scholarly endeavors.

Students conduct oral presentations, create posters, display creative works or perform in this one-day event. Recruiters from North Carolina graduate and professional schools and NC agencies and companies come to meet talented prospective applicants.

Explorations - The State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research Journal

Explorations, the only statewide journal dedicated to undergraduate research and creative endeavors, is a collaborative effort representing the dedication and commitment of faculty and students from across North Carolina, featuring the work of students from public and private two- and four-year institutions. We invite you to review it online, or you may pick up a hard copy in the Office of Undergraduate Research. Explorations offers undergraduates one of their earliest opportunities for publication and encouragement to get involved in research and inquiry-based learning. Submissions are blind reviewed and selected for their excellence as representative examples of work in their field. For more information, “explore” the journal’s Web site.
