Honors College students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to study abroad. The Honors College recommends that students consider exploring this as an option in their sixth semester (spring semester of the third year); however, the Honors College will work with students who study abroad during other semesters to complete their Honors course requirements.
ECU has more than 37 Faculty-Led Summer Study Abroad Programs. Most programs have an application deadline of January 29, 2016 and a minimum 2.0 GPA requirement. For contact information, applications, and details for specific programs, visit piratesabroad.ecu.edu. Our Honors College students have traveled all over the world! For personal accounts of their experiences, visit the Honors College Living & Learning Blog. For any questions on how to fit your study abroad experience into your honors coursework and expectations, please contact our Academic Advisor, Mr. Jim Ellis.
During the regular academic year, the Education Abroad Office holds bi-weekly information sessions to help students start the study abroad process. Although these sessions mainly go over the process for semester or year-long exchange and study abroad, we do go over all the various options available throughout the year, how to navigate the piratesabroad.ecu.edu website, pick the right program, and begin an application. The sessions also allow ample time to answer any questions you may have about the process or your personal academic situation.
Sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 4 PM in the conference room of the International House (you can find us on the campus map- behind the SRC and McDonald's). Please email email@example.com if you have any questions.
All Honors College students, who are at least in their second year, are welcome to apply to UNC-CH Honors Semester in London. This exciting opportunity is only offered to Honors students in UNC system schools. The Semester in London offers an internship, a scholarship for selected students, and the chance to travel around Europe!
