Space Planning at ECU
The Office of Space Planning is committed to creating a campus environment that supports learning, living, engagement, and communication. Priorities for space allocation are aligned to the university's strategic plan, ECU Tomorrow: A Vision for Leadership and Service. The work of the office, grounded in a culture of collaboration, is achieved through master planning, space planning, programming and facilities data management.
All university buildings and land belong to the university as a whole and are subject to assignment and reassignment to meet the institution's overall priorities and needs. The University Space Planning Committee, reporting to the Chancellor, approves allocation of university space. Assignments are made after careful consideration of all relevant factors and consultation with the units involved.
The various committees that work with space and space-related issues are the Master Planning Steering Committee, University Space Planning Committee, Space Allocation Committee, and SPARC.
