Pilot ToolsAcademic Outreach (AO) is constantly looking for new tools that will enhance distance learning classes. These tools will be researched, tested, and put into production if deemed appropriate for faculty/student use. We are currently testing a number of tools and have several that are in production in a limited number of courses. We are always looking for faculty who are willing to test new tools and integrate tools that have already been approved for production. The current tools include: Confluence, Moodle, Open Journal Systems, and Sakai. AO will provide as part of a pilot, the initial infrastructure, technical, and pedagogical support necessary so that interested faculty and staff can integrate theses tools into teaching, learning and administrative functions. These applications and tools are considered to be part of the day-to-day operation with support from AO. AO is fully committed to assisting the university in providing solutions for distance learning instructors that enhance their pedagogy. AO values the input of ECU faculty and uses the pilot tools/projects as a means of receiving feedback on choices for faculty. This input proves invaluable at implementing the appropriate resources at ECU.
