Military Waiver Information

The Military Waiver Application must be accompanied by an affidavit signed by an appropriate military authority.  An appropriate military authority is someone other than the service member or dependant applying for the benefit who can certify the information listed in the bulleted items below.  The affidavit may also be signed “by direction” of such appropriate military authority.  It must be completed on military letterhead, dated and returned in original form, and include the following information:

  • Certify the service member’s current active duty status as per military orders (please include beginning and ending date of orders)
  • Certify the members permanent duty station
  • Certify the relationship of the applicant to the service member
  • Certify the name, rank, title, authority and official military address of the person signing the affidavit

In time-sensitive situations, faxes will be accepted to facilitate processing; however, the original affidavit should also be submitted to the Office of the Registrar.  Military orders, in lieu of the affidavit, will not be accepted.

Failure to provide the required documentation will result in your application being returned to you.  If needed, additional information may be requested.

This benefit must be renewed each academic year before the first day of the fall semester.

If residency status changes during an active semester, the ECU Financial Aid Office must be contacted to determine if an adjustment or repayment of funds is required.  The Financial Aid Office is located at 2107 Old Cafeteria Complex, or call (252) 328-6610.
