 Roles and Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for sponsored research, technology transfer, and research compliance
• Provides leadership in graduate education
• Fosters development of faculty research programs through new and existing programs; through investment of institutional resources
• Approves all proposals for extramural funding and negotiates grants and contracts
• Promotes the ethical conduct of research and oversees compliance activities at ECU
• Leads the strategic planning for research and graduate education.
• Works closely with the Provost/ Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences to ensure the effective use of available resources
• Assists technology transfer and promotes economic development and community engagement in eastern North Carolina
