Purple Rain: Precipitation Processes and Patterns from Local Hazards to Global Climate Change

Curtis

Dr. Curtis received a B.A. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia, an M.S. (1994) and Ph.D. (1998) in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He was hired by the University of Maryland – Baltimore County (UMBC) as a research associate in the Joint Center for Earth Systems Technology, holding an office in the Mesoscale Atmospheric Processes branch in the Laboratory for Atmospheres at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. Dr. Curtis was promoted to research assistant professor in UMBC’s Department of Geography and Environmental Systems. In 2003, he moved to the Geography Department at East Carolina University. In 2009, he reached the rank of Associate Professor. He currently serves as Assistant Director of the Center for Natural Hazards Research and is an affiliate faculty member of the Center for Sustainable Tourism.
