Survival of the Fittest - how Brucella strains adapt to their intracellular niche in the host
Marty Roop received a B.S. in Biology in 1979 and Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1985 from Virginia Tech. After postdoctoral work at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, he joined the faculty of the department of microbiology and immunology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1988 as an assistant professor. Dr. Roop moved to the department of microbiology and immunology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center - Shreveport in 1992, and later joined the department of microbiology and immunology at Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in 2001 where he presently holds the rank of Professor.
