UNC Tomorrow

UNC Tomorrow directs the University of North Carolina in its response to the 21st century challenges facing our state through the efficient and effective fulfillment of its three-pronged mission of teaching, research and scholarship, and public service. Each member institution of the UNC system is being asked to respond in a phased approach with institution specific initiatives and plans.

Our five strategic directions in ECU Tomorrow address key requirements of the UNC Tomorrow report by prioritizing global readiness, access to higher education, improving public education, community economic transformation, health, the environment, and outreach and engagement. Initiatives of special note in ECU’s response to UNC Tomorrow are: Student access and success, Operation Re-Entry, Teachers for Tomorrow, Rural Prosperity and The Underserved. ECU has incorporated thirty-six specific planning objectives under its five ECU Tomorrow goals. This is an important attempt at ensuring that ECU and UNC become and remain more proactive and responsive to the needs of the state and continue to confront the diverse challenges of the rapidly changing, knowledge-based global economy and environment of the 21st century.
