The STEPP Program's mission is to provide students with learning disabilities who aspire to achieve a college education and demonstrate the potential for postsecondary success with access and comprehensive support throughout the university experience. By partnering with these students, their families, and a variety of educational communities, the STEPP Program fosters a network of opportunities and resources to empower and support students from admission to graduation from East Carolina University.
The STEPP Program offers comprehensive academic, social, and life-skills support to a select number of students with identified Specific Learning Disabilities who have shown the potential to succeed at ECU. Funded primarily with private gifts, this program provides a unique opportunity to a population that traditionally may not have access to college. Applications for 2016 Cohort
Applications for the 2016 cohort of Project STEPP will be available in February 2015. Completed application packets must be postmarked by May 15, 2015 to be considered on time. Click here for details about the application process.
ECU is no longer offering a Spring Open House for prospective students. Instead, this event has been changed to an Admitted Students Day. At this time, STEPP is still determining whether we will hold an information session for prospective students & families on March 28th as we had previously announced. Please check back in late February or early March for an update on whether this event will occur.
Meanwhile, students who will be applying for the 2017 cohort or later are encouraged to attend the Fall 2015 Open House to learn more about ECU and STEPP. The date for this event has not yet been announced, but it will likely be in late October or early November of 2015. Click here for more information about ECU's Open House.
