Faculty Guidelines for Faculty-Led Study Abroad

East Carolina University offers Summer Study Abroad programs and spring break programs which are led by ECU faculty teaching ECU courses abroad. The programs generally run anywhere from two weeks to two months.

The programs take quite a bit of preparation and require approval from your academic unit, college or school (for the academic portion), the Office of Continuing Studies and the Office of Global Affairs (for the financial portion). Faculty interested in leading a Summer Study Abroad program should begin planning early in the Fall semester.

Proposal deadlines:

New programs:

Summer programs: May 1

Spring break programs: May 1

Renewing programs (programs that have run in the past 2 years):

Summer session I programs: August 1

Summer session II programs: August 31

11-week summer session programs: August 31

Proposal procedures are currently being revised and will be posted here and emailed to faculty leaders in January 2017.  If you would like to be notified when these are ready, please fill out this form.
