Preserving the Social Norms and Cultures of Local and Indigenous Communities

for Food Services

 

Following is a suggested checklist to ensure the preservation of the traditions and cultures of local and indigenous communities:

 

  • Meet with local representatives to assess the sociocultural and economic impacts of your organization and elicit their views and suggestions.
  • Ensure that staff is informed about local traditions and customs.
  • Provide informational materials for guests on the local community and local history
  • Use appropriate and authentic cultural elements from the local region.
  • Make your property available for community events.
  • Adopt policies that restrict commercialization of endangered or protected flora and fauna.
  • Purchase local arts and crafts and make information available to guests.
