More Sustainable Tourism Practices in North Carolina
In the spring of 2009, the Center for Sustainable Tourism and its partners, ECU’S Office of Economic Development, the North Carolina Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development, and the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance, developed an online pilot Sustainable Tourism Practices Inventory Initiative survey. The aim of the study was to begin cataloging the adoption of sustainable practices in the tourism industry of North Carolina, from very simple practices, like using energy efficient light bulbs, to large projects such as the instillation of solar energy systems.
Below is a list of NC tourism businesses that participated in the study and a link to a list of sustainable practices each business indicated they have adopted. The survey is still available and any North Carolina tourism business or organization interested in completed the survey and being listed below can do so by completing the survey.
The Center for Sustainable Tourism makes no guaranties regarding the accuracy of claims made by any business. Any questions regarding an individual business or organization’S adoption of sustainable practices should be directed at the business in question.
For any questions regarding this survey or the adoption of these or any other sustainable tourism practices, please contact Alex Naar, Coordinator, Sustainable Tourism Initiatives. For technical assistance regarding the survey please contact Mandee Foushee Lancaster.
