Visitor Profile Study
This program is a collaborative research program designated by ECU's Center for Sustainable Tourism to assist rural North Carolina communities collect and analyze information about current visitor markets. The project will provide benefits to both the DMO and the community. The DMO will procure useful information that can be incorporated in future educational and marketing programs. Additionally they will have access to applicable market intelligence at a low cost. Tourism sites and businesses within each participating county will gain information for product development.
Each county DMO will be asked to select attractions, businesses and other sites within their community to collect email addresses of visitors so that an online survey, containing approximately 20 questions, might be sent to them. Employees from the various sites will mail the email addresses to the Center for Sustainable Tourism. Researchers at the Center will email the survey to willing participants. One week after initial contact with the visitors, a second email will be sent out to remind respondents to take the survey. The center will compile quarterly reports for the DMO containing comprehensive results of the visitor data. At the end of the study period, one cumulative report will be generated for each DMO, and the DMO will have access to all of their raw data.
