Getting StartedDuring their initial summer enrollment, students admitted to the program attend the five-week second session of summer school, which begins in late June. During this term, they are oriented to the university, meet with their academic adviser to customize their program of study, earn six - seven hours of academic credit toward their baccalaureate degree, and become familiar with the university and other students in the program. During the Summer Session, Degree in Three Program students live together in one of the university residence halls, but they are not restricted to living together after the summer term. Many students, for example, move to Honors Program housing for the fall; other students move into housing with friends who are not in the program. Students complete their contracts for all housing separately from their summer program housing contract. The summer program offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the university, career opportunities, and living and learning in the university environment. In addition to customizing their program of study with their advisers, students meet representatives of graduate programs and the prehealth/prelaw office to learn about admission requirements and opportunities for post-baccalaureate study. Two to three times each week, brief programs are provided to assist students in learning about post-baccalaureate study, meeting resource people, and enjoying University life. |
