Stephanie grew up in Geneva, Switzerland and Fairfax, Virginia. She attended East Carolina University where she earned her Master's degree in Counselor Education and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Stephanie began advising at ECU in 2005 in the College of Health and Human Performance and then the College of Allied Health and Pre-Professional Advising Center, where she worked with a variety of students interested in the health field.  Stephanie also teaches COAD 1000 (Freshman Seminar). Stephanie has professional memberships with the North Carolina School Counselor Association, NACADA (National Advisor Association), and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Advisor Training Committee. In her spare time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband Scott and daughter Grace, as well as close family and friends. An addiction to shopping, sitting on the beach with a good book anywhere (but you will find her most on the OBX) and time with family seem to fill up any extra time! Stephanie is a lifelong PIRATE and loves sharing the purple and gold spirit with her ECU students.




Heather Ezzell Weigand

Heather was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina.  She is a two-time pirate of ECU where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication (2006) and a Master of Science in Counselor Education (2010).  She is an alumna of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and remains active with the office of Greek Life and sorority recruitment.  in addition, Heather is mother to Vivien and Henry.  They are joy of Heather's life.  Heather enjoys shopping, photography, cooking, and travel.  She also loves good books, coffee, peonies, and all things with a southern flare!


Nicole Johnson

Nicole Johnson

Nicole is from Elizabethtown, North Carolina.  She attended East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in History.  Nicole began her working career at ECU in 2009 as a student worker and transitioned to a permanent employee in 2011.  Her time at ECU as an undergraduate student was a wonderful experience with great opportunities at hand.  Nicole is the youngest of three siblings.  She enjoys visiting family and friends, cooking, and has a huge love for cats.  Nicole plans to continue her education at East Carolina University and pursue a Masters degree in Public Administration.



Yolandi Prinsloo

Graduate Assistant


Yolandi was born in Pretoria, South Africa and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina.  She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned her Undergraduate degree in Communication Studies.  She enjoys running, puppies, and hanging out with friends.  Yolandi is now pursuing her Masters of Science in Counselor Education at ECU.  With her passion for helping others and being a kid at heart, Yolandi hopes to pursue either a career in High School Counseling or Higher Education Advising.
