In
previous academic years, the University Writing Program has run the
Institute in Teaching Writing-Intensive Courses, begun by the UWP's
first director, Dr. Patrick Bizzaro. Each year, Dr. Bizzaro, and later
our second director, Dr. Jim Kirkland, invited 6-10 WI course
instructors to attend the program. Participants learned how others in
the program teach their WI courses by demonstrating a teaching method
addressing in some fashion the teaching of writing in their classes.
Many of these demonstrations were written as articles and published
here on the UWP website so other instructors might avail themselves of
this valuable information.
The program has evolved again, and is now the Writing Across the Curriculum Academy. For more information on the new WAC Academy, contact its director, Kerri Flinchbaugh.
