Each academic year, the University Writing Program runs the Institute in Teaching Writing-Intensive Courses. Near the beginning of the year, the Director of the UWP, Dr. Jim Kirkland, invites 6-10 WI course instructors to attend the program. Participants learn how others in the program teach their WI courses by demonstrating a teaching method addressing in some fashion the teaching of writing in their classes. These demonstrations will be written as articles and published here on the UWP website so other instructors might avail themselves of this important information.
