We’ve noticed that students are more likely to visit the writing center when they can put a face with the space. We are happy to come to your classes and do a 10, 15, 20 or 30 minute presentation on what is the writing center, how to schedule an appointment, how to get started on your assignment and any other writing topic you think would benefit your students.
We can come to you or you can come to us. We are very excited to have a physical space where you can bring your students for mini-presentations. We’ve had entire classes in our digital studio as well as just walking through the space and moving over to a Library Instruction classroom. We’ve had many faculty add on a Writing Center presentation with their Library Instruction day to let students know of all the options available to them when writing.
Writing Center presentations can occur at any time during the semester. Just contact the Director, Nikki Caswell (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule your presentation.
We also encourage you to share our website with your students and, in particular, our Student Resources page. If you teach a DE course, you can direct students to the Online Writing Lab (OWL) and let them know that the writing center can help them virtually.
