Our Staff
 
Jim Kirkland serves as Director of the entire University Writing Program. As a professor in the department of English, Dr. Kirkland has taught courses ranging from composition to American literature to folklore. As the Director of the University Writing Program, he oversees the UWC, the Online Writing Lab, the Writing Across the Curriculum program, the Graduate Writing Program, and the School of Medicine Writing Program. He also runs workshops and meets with faculty about employing writing effectively in their courses.
 
Phil Adams is the Director of the Writing Center as well as the Coordinator of the Online Writing Lab, a program sponsored by Academic Outreach. He oversees daily operation of the UWC, works with faculty to promote the UWC, and assists Dr. Kirkland in consultant training and program development and evaluation.
 
Kerri Bright Flinchbaugh is the Assistant Director of the University Writing Program. She works with Dr. Kirkland to continually develop and refine the WAC program. She also manages the assessment of the UWP, primarily the WAC program, to ensure service to the university through best practices.
