New Employees

You have become a member of a dynamic learning community and we are pleased to have your efforts join those of your many colleagues across campus. ECU is the fastest growing university within the UNC system, and is the third largest university in the State of North Carolina. Your contributions to our educational, research, and service mission will help ensure that the University continues to be a leader in the years ahead. Tomorrow starts here.....with you.....today!

The information provided on this page is related to SHRA/CSS employees. If you are a new faculty member, please visit the New Faculty Orientation website

The Department of Human Resources provides a comprehensive New Employee Orientation program for all full-time and part-time SHRA/CSS employees. New Employee Orientation is comprised of three phases:

Phase 1 is an in-person session that the employee will attend. The Phase 1 session is usually held all day on Mondays beginning at 8:30 am. in Laupus Library, room 1506. During this initial phase, the new employee will complete new hire paperwork, review Benefits options, and learn about key Employee Relations and Workplace Safety topics.

Phase 2 is an online session conducted by the employee. This consists of Phase 2 NEO training found on Cornerstone

Phase 3 is an optional tour of East Campus. Please email Christy Carraway at carrawayc16@ecu.edu to schedule a tour of main campus. CSS employees (those working in a clinical support role) will also be required to attend the Brody School of Medicine Orientation session or School of Dental Medicine Orientation, depending on your department. Your employment offer letter will notify you if you are required to attend this additional orientation session.
