JOEL K. BUTLER
 

Joel K. Butler of Grimesland, chief external affairs officer and president of foundations at Vidant Health, was first appointed to the ECU board by the UNC Board of Governors in 2004 to fill an unexpired term.  He is the health care system's primary point of contact with many organizations throughout eastern North Carolina.

Mr. Butler holds a master's degree from ECU in public administration and is a former chair of the university's Board of Visitors, an advocacy organization.
